Frequently Asked Questions
Who are these workshops for?
These workshops are open to everyone - from complete beginners to more experienced drummers looking for fresh inspiration. Each session is designed to be inclusive, engaging, and full of energy.
You don’t need to have attended a previous Drums of the World workshop; every event is a standalone session with its own rhythms, themes, and creative ideas to explore.
The workshops are primarily aimed at adult learners, but under-18s (aged 10+) are also very welcome if accompanied by a participating adult. Please get in touch with us first if you’d like to bring a young drummer along.
Where is the venue and how do I get there?
The sessions take place at the wonderful Green Note in Camden — an award-winning live music venue and café-bar, well-known for its friendly atmosphere and world-music focus.
Green Note is located at 106 Parkway, Camden Town, NW1 7AN, just a five-minute walk from Camden Town tube station. There’s also plenty of local bus access and street parking in the local area which is free on Sunday afternoons.
What happens during the workshop?
Each workshop is an interactive, hands-on drumming experience. You’ll learn rhythms inspired by percussion traditions from around the world and play together as part of a friendly group.
We’ll start with simple, accessible grooves and build them into layered rhythmic patterns - often finishing with a short performance piece by the end of the session. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive, making it a great way to learn, play, and connect through rhythm.
Some sessions also include a look at how these rhythms can be applied to the drum kit or combined with other percussion instruments, giving you new ideas to take into your own playing.
