Fred McLaren

Fred McLarenFred has over 20 years playing experience and 14 years teaching. As the son of a piano teacher, Fred grew up with a passion for music and takes a great joy in sharing his knowledge.

Having graduated from Drumtech in 2002, Fred found his home playing live for Post War Years, with whom he released two albums, and toured supporting many well known artists including Mumford and Sons, White Lies, The Naked and Famous, and Late of the Pier. Since then he has worked extensively as a session player, a highlight of which was a support tour with Sir Elton John.

Having played venues including the O2 Academy, Brixton Academy and Manchester MEN arena, Fred’s teaching focuses on the application of techniques in live performance. In his lessons he looks to prepare budding drummers for a career in music as well as equip them with a good knowledge of the history of their chosen instrument.

Fred’s playing covers all styles and this is reflected in the variety and diversity of his lessons.

Locations

Fred teaches in Camden at a great drum studio in an excellent location near to Camden Market and Camden Lock, a stone’s throw from legendary music venues such as the Roundhouse and Barfly.
