One of the best ways to develop musical skills is to play in a band with other musicians. That’s why we created the JamSocial events which have been really popular across London. The events attract drummers, guitarists, bassists, vocalists and other musicians – anyone that wants to play in a band.
JamSocial brings musicians together in a live performance situation and develops band skills. Think of it as a mixture of a jam session and a music workshop.
Band development
At JamSocial a lot of subjects are discussed during the practical performance sessions. There are many important aspects to playing with other musicians which become highlighted in a band context. These subjects include:
- communication within the band
- improvisation
- how to handle mistakes
- creating cues and endings for songs
- stage presence and dealing with nerves
- understanding the ‘language’ of other instruments
- songwriting and structure
These subjects deserve visiting in greater detail. That’s why we’ve created a course dedicated to the practical aspects of joining or forming a bamd.
Band Builder Sessions
Elephant Drums and the team that created JamSocial have launched a new 5-week course called The “Band Builder Sessions”.
Each session is 2 hours per week, on Sunday afternoons, from 9th June 2013.
We build a band from scratch, and at the end of the course the band will perform at a real gig.
To find out more and to book a place at these sessions see www.jamsocial.co.uk/events/band-builder-sessions

Hi,
I read details on your site about jam social which looks really good! About me: I’m an intermediate/advanced level Guitar Player/Bass player and songwriter with 10 years experience playing, however despite my level I have actually struggled to find musicians in my area and the whole social aspect of getting people together (I have Aspergers which hasn’t helped, but also difficulty in networking, peoples commitments to music, organising rehearsals, music tastes, online strangers etc). Would an experienced musician be suitable to join up the play in a band scheme u have, or is your target audience aimed at beginners purely?
Also as it happens I’ve been learning drums the last few years to supplement my other instruments, self taught but would also be looking for drum lessons too in future, but am not decided on what to do with this yet, tho perhaps I could join the play in a band scheme on that instead. Will be in touch with lessons If I decide.
Hi Mark, Thanks for your message. Have sent you an email about this. Hope to see you at a JamSocial event!
