Join a band and take part in a performance

This opportunity is best suited to drummers who have been playing for a little while and are looking to take their playing to the next level by joining a band and performing on stage.

In a similar concept to our own Band Builder sessions, Morley College in Waterloo run a similar type of session to Band Builder called "Pop & Rock band". They are recruiting drummers and offering the chance to join one of the band sessions, starting January 2024.

Where & when?

Participants will need to be free on Wednesday evenings.

The course runs for 10 weeks (20 hours).

It is open to drummers with at least 3 years playing experience, aged 19+

Rehearsal sessions take place at the Waterloo Centre.

It course ends with a final performance where the band plays at a London venue.

Class format and activities
• Listen to tutor presentation, explanation and presentation
• Guided analytical listening and group discussion
• Work in a dynamic, creative and supportive environment
• Learn to plan evaluate songs in lead sheet form
• Use recordings from workshops to improve group rehearsal and individual practice techniques
• With the aid of the tutor, explore the stylistic boundaries of a chosen genre

Entry requirements
• An open mind when asked to explore different styles within a specific genre
• Age 19 and up
• At least 3 years of playing the desired instrument

What you need
• Your instrument (drum kit and guitar amps provided) and lead/s if required
• A note book, preferably with manuscript paper A4
• Pencil
