Short Course
The 'Short Course' lasts for up to 3 months and features ten 1-to-1 drum lessons.
How It Works
The 10 lessons are taken as a course of weekly lessons, within 3 months. The sessions can begin on any day of the week and on any week of the month.
The end date will be a minimum of 10 full weeks from the start date, up to a maximum of 3 months from the start date. Learners need to commit to taking the 10 lessons within a 3-month time frame to complete the set of lessons.
Each ‘Short Course’ is tailored to suit the aims and needs of each individual student – whether studying towards formal qualifications, drumming for professional development, or learning drums as a hobby for fun.
A regular weekly time slot suits some learners, whereas others need a more variable time slot to fit around other commitments.
The course is flexible to accommodate a changing schedule - the only limit is the 10 drum lessons need to be taken within 3 months.
Course Content
Depending on previous experience, musical interests and the learner's aims, lessons include the following topics:
- Groove playing
- Technique and control
- Coordination and independence
- Time feel development
- Aural perception
- Creativity and improvisation
- Concepts and thought processes
- Drumming within the context of a band
- Drum kit set-up and maintenance
- Dynamics and expression
- Reading and writing drum notation
- Performance skills
